A practice is a business with its own reporting shape

A medical or dental practice usually operates through a professional corporation, pays a mix of employed staff and associates, and holds equipment and leasehold improvements that carry their own treatment over time. The reporting has to serve the practice, the professional personally, and eventually whoever buys or joins it.

HBT prepares the professional corporation year end and the practitioner's personal return together, keeps the practice records in a state where associate and locum arrangements are visible rather than blended into one payroll figure, and prepares the financial information needed when a practice is being valued or sold.

Before you call

What happens on the first call

The first conversation is free and takes about 10 to 15 minutes. A team member in Calgary answers, asks what is urgent, and explains the useful next step. There is no obligation to start an engagement.

Fees

How we price the work

The first conversation is free. Starting fees are published on the fees page. Those amounts are starting prices and subject to 5% GST. Service scope

What a practice engagement covers

The exact responsibilities, timing, and records depend on the agreed engagement. These are the areas we can discuss when shaping a scope that fits your business.

Professional corporation year end

Year end and T2 for the corporation, prepared alongside the practitioner's personal return so the two agree.

Staff, associates and locums

Payroll for employed staff kept separate from associate and locum arrangements, so each is visible in the records.

Records for a valuation or sale

Financial information organised to the standard a buyer, a lender or an incoming partner will ask for.

How the work begins

A clear process before the accounting starts

  1. Step 1

Tell us how the practice is structured

Professional corporation or not, who is employed, who associates, and the year end you work to.

  2. Step 2

    Scope and price agreed

Priced on transaction volume, payroll headcount and whether valuation work is in scope.

  3. Step 3

    Year end without the scramble

A monthly close so the year end is a review rather than a reconstruction.

Common question
