Montreal businesses, served remotely
Accountant for Montreal businesses
Remote accounting for Montreal businesses. Quebec files GST plus QST with Revenu Quebec, a second tax authority most provinces do not have.

The only province with a second tax administration
Quebec is genuinely different, and not only in rate. A Montreal business charges 5 percent GST and 9.975 percent QST, and the QST is administered by Revenu Quebec rather than the CRA. That means a second registration, a second set of filings and a second authority that can ask questions.
HBT states its limits plainly here. Where an engagement needs Quebec specific filings or French language correspondence beyond what the firm can properly support, we say so at the first conversation rather than after taking the work on. Where the fit is right, the federal corporate work and the Quebec filings are coordinated on one schedule.

Fees
How we price the work
The first conversation is free. Starting fees are published on the fees page. Those amounts are starting prices and subject to 5% GST. Final fees depend on complexity, volume, record quality and scope. Fixed fees are provided where the engagement scope can be determined in advance. You will know the price before paid work starts.

Service scope
What a Montreal engagement covers
The exact responsibilities, timing, and records depend on the agreed engagement. These are the areas we can discuss when shaping a scope that fits your business.
Two authorities, one schedule
Federal filings with the CRA and QST filings with Revenu Quebec kept on the same calendar.
Corporate year end and T2
The federal return and schedules prepared from reconciled books.
An honest fit check first
Where Quebec specific work sits outside what HBT can properly support, we say so before starting.
How the work begins
A clear process before the accounting starts
- Step 1
Confirm the registrations
Which accounts exist federally and with Revenu Quebec, and what is current.
- Step 2
Fit and fee agreed
Scope, limits and price in writing before any paid work.
- Step 3
Coordinated filings
Both sets kept on one schedule rather than chased separately.
Common question
How is Montreal different from the rest of Canada for sales tax?
Quebec charges 5 percent GST and 9.975 percent QST, and the QST is administered by Revenu Quebec rather than the CRA. That means a separate registration and separate filings alongside the federal ones. Most other provinces deal with a single authority. HBT confirms at the first conversation whether an engagement with Quebec filings fits its scope before taking it on.
